Film Post - Richard King

“When we were gearing up for ‘War of the Worlds’, we made the jump to NetMix Pro and it really helped us to do a very complicated movie in a short schedule, efficiently. I looked at a numbers of programs, and NetMix Pro looked like the best one. NetMix Pro is very, very intuitive. NetMix Pro’s Project Manager made the post production for ‘War of the Worlds’ much more efficient.”

Film Post - Mark Mangini

“Movie sound, and all of moviemaking, is detail-oriented.  The sound editing process is all about pulling together thousands of bits of minutiae to create a finished whole. I use NetMix Pro and the Project Manager for creative and organizational details; the very first thing that I do when I get a script is input it into the NetMix Pro Project Manager.  I create the ‘sound script, because the Project Manager enables you to break this down into reels, scenes, spots and components in a library. That’s the first step.  I have a sketch pad, so that whenever I have an idea, I can include it.  I want ADR for a particular line; I heard a sound in the library and I don’t want to forget it.  The Project Manager becomes my audio sketch pad. I thought I was a rather lonesome nutcase, tilting at the windmill of the Project Manager, until I heard that Richard King’s team uses it on ‘War of the Worlds’.”

TV - Ross Smith “In order to do a Pro Tools Rewire session on Windows XP – well, there was nothing out there until we found NetMix Pro.  The application is easy to use, it does exactly what we want it to do, and it’s the best search engine we could find for the job. We love NetMix Pro !”

Games - David Rowe “When the ‘Tony Hawk’ series started to take off, we needed to expand our operations, and as a primarily PC-oriented shop, we turned to NetMix Pro because, quite frankly, it was the only cross-platform sound library tool out there. While Neversoft handles sound design, sound effects, editing, and dialogue, we are particularly involved in picking the best sound elements for the games.  NetMix Pro speeds our operations tremendously.  We have more than 400 gigabytes of commercial audio, and the need to quickly search that trove and spotting audio into Pro Tools XP is key.”

Spots - Glenn Ferguson“NetMix Pro is so easy to use.  I used a different product before, but NetMix Pro has a much better design.  All the buttons are at the right place; it works flawlessly in our Unity environment.  I use the Bin Browser a lot to share bins on our Windows XP network. Using NetMix Pro XP cuts down on our session time, because we have spot-to-timeline in Pro Tools XP… I really can’t say enough about the support that we’ve gotten from Creative Network Design… Within an hour, Creative Network Design gave us a call.  And then, within two days, they designed a new version of the software to get us up and running.  That was a pretty fantastic turnaround.”

Broadcast - Siegfried Rossaert “People used to give up their coffee breaks to search for specific sounds.  Now, they just use NetMix Pro and click the mouse and they can find twenty sounds which could be used for the program they’re editing. Before we installed NetMix Pro, you had to look up sounds in a vast library of CDs.  Now, the process is instantaneous.  This is a major difference for our sound editors and sound designers. We have several popular crime series that are running on VRT now, and the editors for these shows use NetMix Pro all the time.  I had the server on which NetMix Pro was installed running continuously for four months before I shut it down last week for maintenance.  Almost immediately, I received complaints from various editors that they couldn’t use NetMix Pro, their lifeblood product.  They literally couldn’t do their work without it. We can handle NetMix Pro the way we want. Other systems are closed whereas, with NetMix Pro, if I want to expand storage, it’s not a problem.  Similarly, I can expand with both Mac and PC platforms. The manipulation of other databases which can be implemented is also a key consideration for VRT.  We can adapt our database for metadata creation, as well. Through NetMix Pro, our mixers and sound designers have access to about 65,000 sound effects.  That’s quite a lot of material from which to work. We will also add the music libraries to the NetMix Server and install NetMix Pro in our Avid Suites [PC].”
